Do I need to make a reservation?
We work on a walk-in basis in our main studio areas and will not take reservations. Reservations would be required if you have a larger group and are wanting to use the party rooms. This reservation is made on our website under Parties! Special events (Harry Pottery Night, Naughty Pottery Night, and our Ceramic Christmas Tree Parties for example) require pre-registration as seating these nights are limited and typically sell out. Event reservations can be made on our website on the Events page.
How much does it cost to come create at Glazed Expressions?
We have a studio session that is $8 for adults, $5 for children 15yrs and younger, and a $4 helper fee for anyone who is actively working on someone else’s project. Projects are individually priced and range from $7-$95. Most items are going to average in the $18-$35 range. Paints, use of tools, the glazing process, and kiln firing process for pottery is already included. Candle prices include colored wax blocks, filler wax with your choice of fragrance, and wicking/finishing once cooled. Additional candle elements may be purchased.
Do you offer specials or coupons?
We regularly have Pajama Party on Friday nights. We will waive the studio session for anyone wearing their pajamas! Check our event calendars to see which Fridays we are having Pajama Party. Occasionally we will have specials in the studio, like National Paint-Your-Own Pottery Day, that has free studio sessions or special pricing. The best place to keep an eye on our specials is by following us on Facebook! Additionally, we occasionally will put out Groupons and coupons in local publications or at local events.
Can I bring in food or beverages?
Absolutely! Feel free to bring any food or beverages with you that you would like to enjoy while you create. We are a BYOB studio. Any food of beverages you bring must be kept at your own table. Utilizing extra tables just for your food and beverages is not permitted. You need to provide your own paper products. Sodas/Water are available for purchase at the studio for $1.
How long will it take to get my pieces back?
We will always put your pick-up information at the top of your receipt when you pay. If pieces will be ready sooner or later than the time frames listed here, we will denote that on your receipt. We guarantee a 1 week turn around for pottery. This gives us time to glaze and kiln fire your projects. Candles are available for pick-up the following day. This allows the wax time to cool and release from the mold and for finishing.
Will paint stain my clothes? Are they safe for children/pregnant women?
All of our paints are water-based, non-toxic, and lead free. Paint will come out of clothes in the washing machine and washes easily from skin. Some specialty glazes may possibly stain clothing due to the richer materials used. Glazed Expressions will not be responsible for any damage to personal possessions. Sometimes little kiddos get a paintbrush in their mouth before you can stop them, it’s ok! Our paints are non-toxic, they are just a little gritty and not too tasty 😉
What if I don’t finish in one visit?
First off, this is pretty rare! Most people will spend 2-3 hours in the studio creating and have no issue finishing a project (or few!) during this time. If you cannot finish your pottery painting though and need to come back, we will have you check out for your projects and studio sessions for the day and then wrap your items safely and send them with you. We will not hold unfinished pieces simply because we have so much pottery moving around in the back room, we do not have the space to hold them. When you are ready to finish, bring your items back and pay a half-priced studio session for the day.
How do I sign up for a special event or class?
Events can be found our our studio’s event calendars! Each studio location will have it’s own event calendar with all the cool things happening at that location! To register for an event, simply click the date/picture listing. This will open up that specific event registration and provide addition information.
Are there any limits on what I can paint on pottery?
Glazed Expressions is a safe and all-inclusive environment. We feel that art is in the eye of the beholder. However, we reserve the right to refuse to fire symbols promoting hatred. These symbols would include, but are not limited to; swastikas, the confederate flag, or hateful words or sayings.
